Benjamin M. Perlman, Ph.D.

Director

Benjamin oversees overall University Center operations with a particular focus on strategic planning, assessment, staff hiring, and supervision. He is originally from Libertyville, Illinois, and currently he lives in Atlanta with his wife, Meredith, and their two daughters. Ben enjoys cooking, film, football (especially watching his alma maters and the Chicago Bears), and travel. Prior to working at the University Center, he worked in the Residence Life office.

Jonathan R. Duke

Associate Director
Director of Meeting Services

Jonathan oversees Meeting Services and student-focused operations and programming. He enjoys working with his students, staff, and colleagues to maximize the Emory experience. Outside of work, Jonathan is focusing on obtaining his doctorate, keeping up with his friends and family, volunteering in the LGBTQ+ community, and taking his lab/springer mix, Addison, for long walks through his historic Atlanta neighborhood. He is originally from Metarie, Louisiana.

Bob Crowder

Assistant Director for Facilities

Bob provides leadership in the planning, implementation, coordinating and evaluating day-to-day building operations for the division of Campus Life handling maintenance, custodial concerns, renovations, security operations, and special events. He coordinates construction projects and serves as the liaison for Facilities Management, deals with purchasing furniture and facility equipment, and ensures coordination and setup for all events in the ballroom(s) and meeting rooms. Bob spends his time outside of work playing golf, baking world-famous pies, reading, and traveling. He also serves as a mentor to young men as a member of the 100 Black Men of America organization.

Kayla Tyson

Coordinator of Student and Facilities Operations

Kayla oversees all University Center student staff, including building managers, the information desk, and A/V technicians. Kayla has a passion for working with college students and helping them develop their leadership potential in an increasingly multicultural world. Her research interests include the intersections of identities, first generation and low income students, and inclusive leadership. Outside of work, she spends her time doing Pilates, arts and crafts, and hiking. She is originally from Nashville, Tennessee.

Linda Crawford

Office Manager

Linda is responsible for managing the front office and assisting the Director, Associate Director, and Assistant Director with daily operations, including processing service requests (IT, Emory Card, and Facilities Management). She also serves as a notary and a voter registrar for the Division of Campus Life. Linda has been employed at Emory University since 1984. She began her career at Emory in the Human Resources Department, working in both the Employment Center and Employee Relations. Later she transferred to the School of Medicine, where she worked with the team that was responsible for the accreditation of the Rollins School of Public Health in 1990. She came to the University Center Meeting Services Department in 1996 where she was a Meeting Services Coordinator. She now serves as an Administrative Assistant, managing the office and assisting the Director, Associate Director, and Assistant Director with daily operations of the Center. She is originally from Columbus, Georgia.

Janell Goodwin-Farley

Event Coordinator

Janell works with students, staff, and faculty in reserving and planning events in large Campus Life event spaces, namely Cox Hall. She is both a personal and professional certified event planner, and she is currently completing a degree in Women's and Gender Studies here at Emory.
